An Unexpected Middlesbrough march !!!

No one would have imagined this situation nearly two months ago. Aitor Karanka’s departure, the coach who managed to revive and launch the Middlesbrough to the highest English category, the Premier League.

A decision had to be made, and without him here, nothing made sense.

I am sorry I have to say farewell to a really special opportunity, which I have tried to savor from the very first moment. I will always feel grateful to Víctor Orta, as well as to Aitor Karanka and his staff. Besides, I would do it again.

You must take decisions in life and, despite the results, having the opportunity to live this has been wonderful to me. I have been lucky to meet goalkeepers of the stature of Víctor Valdés, which has proved to be an unforgettable experience.

Thanks to all the staff in the club, players… I would just want to wish them the best for the future. For their supporters and their history, they deserve to stay in the highest level.

¡¡¡Un hasta siempre, mi Elche!!!

Hoy es un día muy difícil para mí. He recibido una oferta para incorporarme de manera inmediata al Middlesbrough de la Premier League. Los momentos no los elige uno, pero se trata de una oportunidad profesional muy importante.

Después de siete temporadas y casi 300 partidos solo tengo palabras de agradecimiento al Elche C.F., a la ciudad y a todos los aficionados que han mostrado mucho respeto y consideración.

Cuando uno echa la vista atrás se siente en la obligación de agradecer a todos los entrenadores y cuerpos técnicos la confianza año tras año. Me han ayudado a crecer en lo profesional y en lo personal. Pero además, he formado una familia con todos los componentes, utilleros, cuerpo médico, jugadores, trabajadores del club… Y qué decir de mis porteros; sin ellos, el camino no hubiera sido el mismo ni tan apasionante y enriquecedor.

Para mí, Elche es mucho más que el club que me dio la oportunidad de estar en la élite del fútbol.  El Elche siempre estará en mi corazón y también todas las personas que habéis formado parte en estos años atrás. Siempre seré un franjiverde más.

Y tampoco dejaré de ser nunca un ilicitano más. Encontré aquí a mi mujer y ella hará que esté ligado a la ciudad para siempre.
